How to prepare for your treatment

Have a light meal 1.5–2 hours before the start of the steaming ritual. This will keep your circulatory and nervous systems balanced with your digestive process, which prevents uncomfortable feelings during the steaming, such as nausea and dizziness.

On the day of your banya visit, drink room-temperature water and herbal teas. This prevents dehydration during the ritual. Continue drinking water and herbal teas throughout the entire steaming ritual. Completely exclude all alcohol on the day of your banya visit—this is a primary safety rule.

Before starting the steaming ritual, take a shower to rinse off all creams, deodorant, perfume and makeup from your skin. But do not use soap or shampoo, so you do not strip your skin of its natural protective oil layer.

A special banya hat (felt, wool, or linen) will be provided to protect your head from overheating.

For Women we recommend a two-piece swimsuit.  Avoid one-piece suits, as they cover more of the body and prevent steam from penetrating the pores. Additionally, synthetics can heat up significantly in the steam room, causing discomfort and reducing the procedure's effectiveness. For Men we recommend Swimming trunks.

Make sure to also bring with you a pair of rubber slippers or flip flops.

  • This comprehensive practice involves meditative techniques for mental relaxation and tension relief, and uses various plant whisks (oak, birch, maple, fir, linden). The technique focuses on deep muscle core relaxation, profound lymphatic and circulatory system cleansing through deep warming, and aromatherapy. The essential oils from the whisks are transferred to the client via the steam. It includes contrast therapy—alternating temperatures via water pouring, cold dousing, or cold plunge, followed by reheating—to strengthen the vascular system and immunity, and to stimulate hematopoiesis (red blood cell production). The warming process is staged, progressing from the superficial dermal layers to the deep warming of muscles, joints, and periosteum.
